How to become a third-party seller at Target.com?
In 2021 I was hired as an omnichannel advisor by PSK Collective to streamline the target+ Standard operations process (SOP). Since then, I have changed a lot of processes by bringing in new partners and strategies to increase product confidence.
The Target+ team has been amazing in providing support during attribute updates. This is one of the reasons why I love to recommend Target+. Let's get started.
Target+ Intro
On February 25th, 2019, Target Retail joined the marketplace movement by creating Target+ Marketplace. Target+ is embedded within target.com to offer a larger selection of products.
Target+ Marketplace is an invitation-only platform, meaning only select third-party retailers can sell their products on the site. This exclusivity helps to ensure that Target+ Marketplace offers a high-quality shopping experience for its customers.
For third-party sellers, Target+ Marketplace offers several benefits, including:
- Increased visibility: Target+ Marketplace is a popular website with millions of monthly visitors and a loyal fan base.
- Increased sales: Target+ Marketplace is a trusted and reliable platform, meaning customers are likelier to purchase from sellers on the site.
- Omnichannel Channel Software: Using an omnichannel reduces your setup costs and labor needed to maintain. Another benefit is you can connect another marketplace to the same Omnichannel.
If you are a company interested in selling your products on Target+ Marketplace, you can apply to become a partner at https://plus.target.com/.
Apply to Target+
You are more likely to be accepted to Target+ if you control most of the supply chain, for example, manufacturers, distributors, co-packers, and contract manufacturers. The more extensive product assortment you offer to Target+, it will be easier to implement a long tail strategy.
Suppose you applied and did not hear back from Target+ after 30 days, you emailed, and there is no feedback from Target+. You can email me your company history and product assortment, and I will make an introduction if I feel it's a perfect Target+ fit.
Integration
Once you get accepted and start onboarding, you must connect with Target+ via API. Currently, I listed 3 to 5 good integration partners below.
- Seller Cloud
- Acenda
- Channel Advisor
An Omnichannel software platform allows sellers to manage their inventory, product data, pricing, and order fulfillment across multiple channels from a single dashboard. I provided a flow of how the integration will work. However, keep in mind there are a lot of little steps to get products setup and to complete the order processing.
My preferred integration is with Acenda because they offer an easy onboarding and a nicer user interface than channel advisor and seller could. If you are a fashion or CPGs company, Acenda is a better choice too. I'll explain in future articles the differences between all the omnichannel cloud-based e-commerce software.
In future articles about Target+, I will discuss issues and show examples of how to improve listings. The articles will be more technical. This way, you can learn and understand what is needed to grow sales on Target.com.
