Walmart Marketplace: Seller Account Hacked 🆘

This is Hayim Paices from David Ricardo. Today I am going to share a story about Walmart Marketplace.

Three weeks ago, I was super scared by Walmart marketplace. I know I'm a little late in sharing this, but I did post about it on LinkedIn when it happened.

It's more important than ever to take the necessary precautions to secure your Walmart account and assign the appropriate access to users.

The Walmart Marketplace Account Hacked.

It's a crazy way to start a Sunday! Today, around 9:30 a.m., I got an email from Walmart Marketplace saying that my client added Hayim Paices—@hotmail.

I quickly looked into this as this was 🔺 a red flag.

I attempted to remove the user promptly, but the page refreshed, and I got logged out before I could click the button.

I attempted to reset my password, but instead of being able to reset it, I received an error message saying, "Sorry, we don't recognize your email address.

All the company's users were deleted. 😭😡

At this point, we knew that the Walmart Marketplace account was hacked.

I quickly contacted my Walmart Marketplace representative and he went to work. After 5 hours, they deleted the hacker and added the owner of the account, and the problem was fixed! If you don't have a Walmart Marketplace Rep I highly suggest you get one!

All users on your Walmart Seller Center account must have the two-step authentication activated regardless of whether they only have view and write privileges or full admin rights.

Steps:

1. Log into Seller Walmart 👉 click on your name on the right side 👉 click on "My profile".
2. You will be directed to the account Settings and scroll down until you see the channel for 2-Setp Verification. I recommend doing Text and email, or if you already have an Authenticator App, use the App.
